Hit a plateau? Change your plan.

Everybody who trains for something for any amount of time comes up against the same problem: a plateau, that dreaded place where you're not getting stronger/faster/leaner, but you're putting in the same effort.
This happens for lots of reasons, but the biggest is that your body has become accustomed to the routine you've been putting it through.
The easiest way to stop hitting plateaus is to change up your plan. A personal trainer can help with that, of course, but you can do it on your own, too. If you've been running 3 miles on Monday, doing sprint work on Wednesday, and putting in an 8-mile bike ride on Friday, but your 3 mile time hasn't improved in a long time, consider changing out the 3-mile run for a strength-based circuit.
Your body will adapt to the new stress and when you come back to the 3-mile run, be prepared to hit a PR.
If you would like help figuring out how to change up your routine, let me know. But either way, get out there and live stronger!
